Our vision to start Biotechnology was to advance fundamental understanding as to how biological systems operate and to look into effective biology-based technologies for applications across a wide spectrum of societal needs through education and research. It is also directly associated with subjects such as Health and Medicine, Cropping System and Crop Management, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Soil Science and Soil Conservation, Ecology, Bio-statistics, Cell Biology, Seed Technology, Plant Physiology etc., and hence, can be applied in developing various vaccines, medicines and diagnostics, improving energy production and conservation and increasing productivity. Biotechnology has applications in four major industrial areas, including helath care (medical), crop production and agritulture, industrial use of non-food crops and other products (e.g. biodegradable plastics, vegetable oil, Biofuels) and environmental uses.
