About the Department

The Department of Psychology of  SUSCRT, was established in 2012. Presently intake of the students in M.A.-I, and M.A.-II is 30 each. The department provides vast knowledge in the areas of the Personality, Creativity, Clinical Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Experimental and Social Psychology, Educational Psychology, Sports Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology and so on. The Department is well-equipped with psychological tests and instruments, experimental Lab., Testing Lab. and Bio-feedback Lab. In addition, there is a Computer Lab. which facilitates research and other Departmental activities. The department has a contributory library that has a large collection of books in various fields of psychology catering to the needs of students, and faculty in the department. The Department has completed one Fruitful year of its existence and is continuing its endeavor towards academic excellence in teaching.

Career Opportunities

A degree in Psychology can provide many career opportunities. The jobs they get are many and varied, ranging from health and social welfare occupations, such as Care Assistant and Assistant Psychologist, to commercial, professional and managerial jobs, such as Chartered Accountant and Marketing Manager Graduates can also enter administration, information work, sales, teaching and the media Graduates with a master's degree in psychology can also find teaching positions at colleges and universities. Academic advising, career counselling and academic recruiting are alternative careers in higher education that graduates from a master's in psychology program may consider. Another option is to look for job with the local, state or federal government. Various government offices often hire individuals with a master's degree in psychology to perform a range of duties such as performing research or providing psychological services. Some different government positions Developmental specialist, Drug and alcohol specialist, Employment counselor, Human resources analyst, Psychology program manager, Rehabilitation counselor and Social service manager. Students may also find employment in the mental health field with possible job titles such as Behavioral counselor, Health project coordinator, Psychiatric technician, Child protection worker, Child care supervisor etc.
